When I was a little girl, I felt less then because other kids would make fun of me by pulling on the corner of their eyes to show they were slanted versus round. This had a long-lasting and harmful effect on me that hurt my self-esteem and confidence.
One of the most positive shifts I’ve seen is embracing a diverse range of bodies and faces that weren’t available to me when I was growing up. I smile when I see members of Blackpink serve as global ambassadors for French brands. I hope to see more mature women in ads that aren’t promoting plastic surgery.
I believe we can all find a way to embrace our inner and outer beauty in a healthy way. We are all beautiful in our unique way. A part of me wanted to hide myself for a long time because of my severe acne, so it’s been a long personal journey to self-acceptance.

We can actively celebrate other women. There’s nothing like an uplifting compliment from another woman. There must be a way to look at the whole package-personality, intellect, style; and then be as gentle as we can with ourselves and other women.
