I’m a big fan of eating your fruits and veggies. You get the greatest amount of fiber and freshness, less concentrated sugar, along with the feelings of fullness/satiety that most people want (i.e. not as a meal replacement). I know that for many people, it can become an expensive habit. Here’s where I see green juices can complement a healthy diet:
- When you have a cold or need an immune system boost. Getting extra shots of vitamins and minerals when you’re not feeling well can boost your immune system, especially when you add some ginger. Your body can more easily digest things in liquid form.
- Small doses or shots. When I haven’t been eating my regular dose of veggies, then I like to take small shots of green juice over a few days.
- When my body craves Jamba Juice or the neighborhood juice store. We all like variety in our diets. Sometimes we need a break from eating salad. On occasion, a green juice will help me reset and help me go back to my ‘regular’ diet. In warmer weather, it’s very refreshing to have a cold drink with your favorite veggies/fruits.
Every body is different and reacts to their food in a unique way, so none of this may be true for you. Your body may react differently during different seasons or challenging periods in your life. Go by how it makes you feel!
