Relax At Home: Bath Therapy

Baths in the winter are nurturing for your mind, body, and spirit. It’s great to let go of the tensions of the day. Here are some tips that will help soothe your skin, hair, and body. Try one of these add-ons to your bath:

  1. Add a hair mask while you are soaking. This will deep condition your hair and is good for your scalp
  2. Add one cup of Epsom salt which contains magnesium and helps soothe your nervous system.
  3. Bath bombs add color, flowers, and scent to add novelty and fun. If you’re not a bath lover, you can use shower bombs to get the benefit of essential oils.
  4. Add dried flowers. Dried rose petals are visually appealing and a lovely touch. If it’s too messy, you can place it in a muslin bag or tea bag sachet.
  5. Light a scented candle and be careful about the placement for fire safety.
  6. Listen to relaxing music.
  7. Add lavender essential oil into the carrier oil of your choice (jojoba, olive, grapeseed).
  8. Take a few centering breaths. Imagine all your cares going into the water. Say to yourself “I am safe in this moment.”
  9. Lounge around in a fluffy bathrobe afterward.
  10. Drink water garnished with lemons or cucumbers for a spa-like feeling.
  11. Nourish your skin with creams including shea butter, which feels more luxurious than a lotion and will retain moisture longer.
Don’t leave your special gifts and potions for a special time. Now is the time to receive and indulge. Don’t rush to the next item on your to do list. Take the time to savor the moment and create time around your bath so you can keep this feeling a bit longer.

Stop and Smell the Roses – Part 1

I was recently walking through my botanical garden and I had to remind myself to notice the flowers in bloom. Winter will be upon us and fall is already here. Whatever I had in mind for the day, stopping and noticing this moment was most important to me.

I’ve recently asked myself if I’m enjoying the pace of my life and honestly it’s a no. What I mean is that I try to cram so much into my free time because it’s very precious to me. I feel that I have to cram in what I”m missing. The pace is not sustainable. Everyone has different seasons of life so you may have to examine what is happening in your life.
