Declutter and Lighten Your Load
This is an area I struggle with, but I believe part of my own journey is to reduce my possessions that are weighing me down. I’ve collected so much over the last couple of years. My biggest goal is to make room for things that matter.

Benefits

Clearing your space has both mental, emotional, and physical benefits. One of the first things I noticed when I started to clear my space was the places I used to pass through invited me to linger since it stopped being a storage area.

You may not even realize the amount of stress that the space is causing you since you grow accustomed to what you see and you no longer notice. After I returned from a vacation, I saw how much I had accumulated and it felt surprising.

Imagine how nice it will be to spend less time cleaning and organizing your possessions. Picture how life would be by reducing your stress in this area and the sense of peace that you will have.

If you are busy or starting out on your journey, set a timer for ten ten minutes. While you are warming something in the microwave, you can work on a drawer or small area.

Motivation

Denise Linn, feng shui expert, says that keeping something just in case for the future is a negative affirmation because you are saying you won’t be able to have the resources in the future you have now. This was a hard message for me to hear because I like to be prepared for emergencies. I always think of every what if scenario. This requires greater trust in the universe than I was used to. I’ve learned to trust that I will be able to find what I need or know who to ask.

What helps motivate me more than the things I’ve heard is that decluttering is a part of self-care. You are creating a beautiful environment for yourself. I never made that connection before, but it inspires me with a higher purpose.

Messages Being Sent

If your home clutter is stubborn and persistent, ask yourself the message it’s sending you. It is a good way to get to the root of the issue. My collection of journals and pens pointed to my interest in writing. Something was calling out for me to make time and space in my life to write.

You can always make a fresh start in this area and see what new things life brings you. Start small but be consistent in your efforts. Having early wins will keep you on track and when you see the difference in how you feel and the weight off of your shoulders, you will be inspired to keep going. It’s a rewarding process whose benefits are more far reaching than any of us truly realizes.

Stop and Smell the Roses – Part 1

I was recently walking through my botanical garden and I had to remind myself to notice the flowers in bloom. Winter will be upon us and fall is already here. Whatever I had in mind for the day, stopping and noticing this moment was most important to me.

I’ve recently asked myself if I’m enjoying the pace of my life and honestly it’s a no. What I mean is that I try to cram so much into my free time because it’s very precious to me. I feel that I have to cram in what I”m missing. The pace is not sustainable. Everyone has different seasons of life so you may have to examine what is happening in your life.
