Eating Routines

One way to keep your digestive system strong is to follow a reasonable schedule. Your body will learn to expect food at certain times and this will keep you on an even keel and you’ll avoid feeling ravenously hungry.

If you eat super late at night or eat at erratic times, this confuses your digestive system. You may overeat if you wait too long between meals. Plus, if you eat too late and then lie down, your digestive system has to work that much harder. If you have an unpredictable schedule, try getting in the habit of carrying portable and healthy snacks that are available at all times. Take a few minutes to plan ahead.

During certain seasons, you may crave different types of food. Maybe on weekends your eating schedule will be more relaxed. It’s important to listen to the messages your body is sending you. Your body will send hunger cues of when to eat if you learn to listen to the rhythms of your body.

Many people skipped to a later breakfast when they started working from home over the past few years. Observe and notice how your life circumstances affect your eating habits. You can always adjust your eating rituals to better suit the life you have now.
