Fixing My Mojo
  • Nature Fix-If you are lucky to have access to a park or trails, then take some time today to make an appointment with yourself. One of my favorite meditations is to touch a tree and really allow myself to feel grounded by the tree’s essence. You could also hug the tree if you feel comfortable. Trees are just majestic and ancient beings. I’ll never forget the time when I was able to stand in front of a majestic California sequoia/redwood tree. My energy felt scattered with jet lag due to the long flight, but the forest air rejuvenated me and I felt myself again after connecting with the tree. Here is the simple visualization I used:

Express gratitude for the tree’s presence.
Imagine the roots going down through the earth.
Imagine you are rooted with this tree.

  • Take a mental health day. You don’t need to explain yourself to anyone. Sleep as long as you wish and don’t check your email. I recommend that you spend some time alone. Allow your mind to rest. Take a moment to gain a fresh perspective in your life. A recent week was filled with problems I had to solve that were keeping me up at night. I took some time to see the forest from the trees. What emerged through a challenging problem was the kind people who were sent into my life to help me. I called them my angels. Nothing in my situation changed instantaneously, but since I saw that there was help nearby, I felt myself relieved of the incredibly lonely sense that I was on my own.

  • Water-Incorporate water into your daily life. Luxuriate in your shower or bath. Sit near a fountain and let the water patterns soothe you. Sometimes I forget that I’m sitting in the middle of New York City when I’m enjoying one of the many fountains dotting our city. Lounge by a pool or soak in a sauna. Soak your hands in epsom salt and water, which will also relieve achy hands.

Stop and Smell the Roses – Part 2

On the road to slowing down and experiencing more joyful moments, there will be many challenges along the way. Some of these may be unconscious patterns that are holding you

Stop and Smell the Roses – Part 1

I was recently walking through my botanical garden and I had to remind myself to notice the flowers in bloom. Winter will be upon us and fall is already here. Whatever I had in mind for the day, stopping and noticing this moment was most important to me.

I’ve recently asked myself if I’m enjoying the pace of my life and honestly it’s a no. What I mean is that I try to cram so much into my free time because it’s very precious to me. I feel that I have to cram in what I”m missing. The pace is not sustainable. Everyone has different seasons of life so you may have to examine what is happening in your life.
