Mini Getaways

Sometimes I feel so constrained for time. You can’t always take a vacation when you need one, but planning for ways to get away from the pressure of daily life has to be a priority, especially with the lives that we all lead.

  1. Picnic at the park- Take a whole afternoon or day if possible. Watch the clouds go by.
  2. Feed the ducks- My dad loved to do this. It’s very relaxing.
  3. Visit the pet store- Watch the fish or interact with the other animals.
  4. Spend the day at a historical library- Being in beautiful surroundings is a vacation for the mind.
  5. Botanical Gardens- Especially the conservatory during the winter months. Flowers will cheer anyone up.
  6. Go for a hike-There are so many possibilities for your available time and desired challenge.  Try this website.
  7. Spa day- We are lucky to have so many modalities in this present age.
  8. Tour of your city of something unusual or interesting-There is a tour for everything. Food tours are very popular.
  9. Go fishing- Just be. Enjoy the fresh air. Just find out the catch and release policy in your area.
  10. Go horseback riding- I’m still impressed that you can go horseback riding in most places, even within cities.

I hope my simple suggestions help you find relaxation before you are overly frazzled. Truly your imagination is the limit. Build these appointments into your calendar.

Stop and Smell the Roses – Part 1

I was recently walking through my botanical garden and I had to remind myself to notice the flowers in bloom. Winter will be upon us and fall is already here. Whatever I had in mind for the day, stopping and noticing this moment was most important to me.

I’ve recently asked myself if I’m enjoying the pace of my life and honestly it’s a no. What I mean is that I try to cram so much into my free time because it’s very precious to me. I feel that I have to cram in what I”m missing. The pace is not sustainable. Everyone has different seasons of life so you may have to examine what is happening in your life.
